Making Holidays Bright: The KT Prep Academy Toy Drive for TEL HI A Tradition of Giving for 6 Years

Telegraph Hill Neighborhood Center (TEL HI) extends its heartfelt appreciation to KT Prep Academy for saving the holiday season for the low-income children in its programs.
This past holiday, TEL HI received news that the organizations who regularly provide toys to
the kids were unable to donate due to cut-backs and various other reasons. KT Prep, a Bay Area athletic training program that focuses on helping student athletes achieve success, stepped up and more than made up for the toys that were not received from these organizations. KT Prep collected over four hundred new, unwrapped toys for the children, ensuring that every child at the center would receive a gift this holiday season.
Receiving gifts during the holidays can bring joy and happiness to kids, especially those living in the margins of society. The season is a time for children to feel special and valued, and for many children, receiving a gift can make them feel cared for and included. Additionally, it can also provide children with a sense of normalcy and stability during a time of year that can be stressful for some families.
“We were happy to be able support TEL HI by providing toys for underprivileged children during the holidays,” said Coach Nathan Kenion, KT Prep Academy founder. “We are proud of the fact that we have been hosting this toy drive for the past six years and each year we have been able to increase the number of toys donated. And I know what it feels like to be a kid and not get any gifts on Christmas, so this cause is very important to me.”
KT Prep plans for the toy drive throughout the year. They host fundraising events and various drives to encourage their student athletes and community members to get involved and make a difference in the lives of children in need. The toy drive is specifically focused on collecting toys and gifts for children from low-income families enrolled in TEL HI’s preschool, after school programs and Youth Center at North Beach Place.
KT Prep Academy was founded by Coach Nathan Kenion. The program focuses on providing high-quality academic instruction, test preparation, and college counseling services to student athletes as well as the highest degree of technical instruction and coaching. The dedicated team of educators and coaches help students achieve their full potential and reach their academic and personal goals.
