TEL HI Marks 136 Years of Service at Annual “A Taste of TEL HI” Gala

On May 30, 2026, more than 330 supporters, community leaders, partners, and friends gathered at The Conservatory at One Sansome for A Taste of TEL HI 2026, presented by SDSS. The evening marked a special milestone as we celebrated TEL HI’s 136th Anniversary and raised critical funds to support programs and services that strengthen the lives of children, youth, families, and aging adults throughout San Francisco.
The event was a reminder of what can be accomplished when a community comes together with a shared commitment to service. Thanks to the generosity of our guests, sponsors, donors, and supporters, we raised more than $376,000 to sustain and expand TEL HI’s essential programs.
We were honored to welcome civic and community leaders who share TEL HI’s dedication to strengthening San Francisco neighborhoods, including California State Senator Scott Wiener, District 3 Supervisor Danny Sauter, District 6 Supervisor Matt Dorsey, President of the Board of Supervisors Rafael Mandelman, and San Francisco City Attorney David Chiu.
One of the evening’s most meaningful moments was the presentation of the Elizabeth Ashe–Alice Griffith Award to former SFPD Assistant Chief David Lazar. This distinguished award recognizes individuals whose leadership, compassion, and commitment to service embody the values established by TEL HI’s founders more than a century ago. David Lazar’s dedication to building stronger, safer, and more connected communities reflects the spirit of service that continues to guide TEL HI’s work today. Watch the video here!
