TEL HI’s Emergency Childcare Program Acknowledged by Mayor Breed
December 30, 2020
Our Early Childhood Education Team is One of SF’s Finest!
In July 2020, Mayor London Breed recognized the Telegraph Hill Neighborhood Center (TEL HI) for providing emergency childcare to frontline, emergency, and other essential workers during the initial months of the COVID-19 pandemic. TEL HI was one of the only few childcare providers operating at this time and provided crucial service for over 60 families!
When the orders were given to shelter–in–place, TEL HI’s infant, toddler, and preschool staff quickly adapted their programs so they could continue to support the families and children during the crisis. While health and safety have always been a top priority,
TEL HI’s staff worked with health care providers and The City to ensure enhanced safety protocols were implemented to keep TEL HI’s families, children and staff healthy and safe. As health officials continued to learn more about COVID-19, TEL HI’s Early Childhood Education (ECE) team closely monitored recommendations from the Department of Public Health and continued to update their procedures.
Today, TEL HI’s ECE program has adopted rigorous safety measures including daily health screens and temperature checks, reduced classroom sizes, a strict mask-wearing policy, ensuring children and teachers practice physical distancing, limiting non-essential visitors in the classroom, and many others.
As always TEL HI is committed to being a place that families trust to care for and educate their children, especially when in crisis. We are grateful to be able to continue to provide exemplary services to our diverse community in new and exciting ways. Stay healthy and stay safe!
