Infants, Toddlers & Preschoolers
At TEL HI, families can count on having a safe, stimulating, nurturing environment for their kids. Our California-licensed Infant Program, Toddler Program and Preschool serves a total of approximately 90 children, ages 4 months–5 years old, every day. To support our working families, both programs are available all day, every weekday, all year long.
Each year we provide about 124,000 hours of service to preschoolers. Here’s a glimpse at the diversity of our youngsters:
- Almost a dozen languages are spoken in our preschool
- 40 percent of our preschoolers are English Language Learners
- About half of our preschool families receive financial aid while half do not
Our pre-literacy curriculum prepares children for school, adapting to each child’s interests and learning style, fostering creativity and fun. It is not unusual for families to send multiple generations of children through our programs. Many kids literally “grow up” with TEL HI. Our engagement with a single child sometimes lasts for 10 years or longer!
A TEL HI Profile
Chloe is a three-year-old preschooler in Tel-Hi’s Seals group. She came to the United States from China five months ago. The care and attention from Chloe’s teachers has helped her adjust quickly to her surroundings. She is making friends and forming strong attachments.
While learning English, Chloe has also shown an affinity for books, painting, drawing, cutting, and gluing. She loves to sing and is very independent. Chloe also learned to communicate with her peers and teachers (who don’t speak Mandarin) in a variety of other ways. With a twinkle in her eye, a knowing and joyful smile, and an infectious laugh, Chloe captures the attention of everyone she engages with at Tel-Hi Preschool.
