TEL HI To Host Giving Tuesday On Nov. 28

Facebook and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation announced in October that they will be matching up to $2 million of funds raised on Facebook for nonprofits on #GivingTuesday from 12:00am EST on November 28, 2017 to 11:59pm HST on November 28, 2017! Facebook is also waiving its fees for donations made to nonprofits on Facebook for this day only. Telegraph Hill Neighborhood Centre (TEL HI) is excited to be able to participate in this global day of giving by launching a fundraiser on Facebook on November 28 to raise money for TEL HI’s Seed to Table program!
#GivingTuesday is a day recognized globally, and is dedicated to giving back, and is celebrated annually on the Tuesday that follows Thanksgiving (U.S.) as well as Black Friday, a vastly recognized shopping event, and Cyber Monday. Families, businesses, and volunteers in communities all over the world come together for the common purpose of celebrating the gift of generosity.
TEL HI’s Seed to Table program gives children and youth from urban neighborhoods the opportunity to grow and eat their own food. The program teaches children through hands on activities, experiences, and classes the importance of eating healthy, fresh, unprocessed food and all the ways food choices impact their life. TEL HI hopes to raise $5,000 on #GivingTuesday for program supplies.
